“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”
-Psalm 127:3
North Shore Youth Ministry
When: Sundays
Jess Easter (She/Her) has started as the new youth pastor serving the Marblehead Youth Collaborative Ministry. Based on initial meetings, the youth have chosen to rename the group the “North Shore Youth Ministry” or NSYM for short. The NSYM will meet Sundays and will rotate Church host locations. Middle school age youth (6th-8th grades) will be meeting from 3:30-5:30pm and High School (9th-12th grades) from 6-8 pm.
Sunday School
When: Every Sunday at 10am
St. Andrews offers a weekly Sunday School program at the 10am service for young children. This is based on the Godly Play which is a Montessori-based Christian education program designed for children, encouraging them to explore their faith through storytelling, play, and imaginative engagement with Biblical stories. It creates a safe and welcoming space for children to ask questions, deepen their understanding of God, and develop their spiritual lives through hands-on learning and creative reflection.
Co-op Nursery School
St. Andrew’s Cooperative Nursery School, located in the church, is a truly cooperative venture where parents volunteer time and talent in order to play an integral part in their children’s early education. The goal is to establish a cooperative and socially, economically, and racially integrated nursery school that provides preschool children with the experience of living and learning with others of varied backgrounds. It is not necessary to be a member of the church to be eligible to attend the nursery school.
Spur: Community Roots Garden
The local nonprofit SPUR has as its mission “cultivating a community of doers.”
Since 2017, St. Andrew’s has been the proud home of SPUR’s Community Roots garden, which was established in 2016 to grow fresh produce to benefit area food pantries and community programs. Our partnership with SPUR enabled the garden to nearly triple in size, as well as provided stability for the garden to ensure its successful operation for the next few years. The Community Roots garden at St. Andrew’s is a tangible way to connect with one another and bridge the gap for those who may have barriers accessing healthy food, free of toxins and grown with a whole lot of love.
In the midst of the pandemic in 2020, SPUR volunteers have been hard at work on the garden, adding mulch, securing fencing around the perimeter, and preparing the garden for a plentiful harvest season.
