Century Celebration, 2023–2024

To mark the hundredth anniversary of the 1924 founding of St. Andrew’s, we will be having a series of celebratory events and activities, beginning in September 2023 and culminating in June 2024.

We invite all present and past parishioners, neighbors, and members of St. Andrew’s extended community, near and far, to come to one or more services, events, and activities, to help us celebrate the wonderful history of this parish and its place in the community and the world.

September 10: Centennial Kickoff
Single service at 10 a.m. with visit from Bishop Alan Gates
Blessing of enhancements to buildings & grounds
Picnic with barbecue, bouncy house, and live band—and Terry’s Ice Cream truck!

October 13–15: Retreat at Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center
November 12: Visit from former rector Kevin Bean and his wife, Megan
November 19: Historical service based on 1662 Book of Common Prayer
January 21: Visit from former associate rector Arrington Chambliss

and more!

See our full schedule and stay tuned for more information and updates!

Spots are still open for the Centennial Retreat! Join a group of 30 at the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center in Greenfield, N.H., the weekend of October 13–15, peak foliage season! The reasonable fee of $100 ($150 for families) includes lodging, all meals, reflection, prayer, and children’s activities—as well as access to beautiful hiking trails. (Participation in planned activities is optional.) Children are welcome! Look for a signup sheet in the Parish Hall, or sign up online. We request $50 to hold your slot, which you can pay at https://givebutter.com/standrewsmhd.

We want to see your historic photos! We’re putting together a series of Cloister Gallery displays, as well as a fuller online centennial photo album, and we’d like to see any historic photos you might have. We’ll select some photos for a published church history also.

  • Milestones in your family’s life at St. Andrew’s: weddings, baptisms, confirmations
  • Worship and music, including Christmas pageants and rehearsals/performances of the Good Friday Cantata
  • Past and present clergy
  • Fellowship events through the years (Advent Fiesta / St. Nick Nite, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Summer / Mardi Gras Party, etc.)
  • Church school classes, Vacation Bible School, adult education classes, retreats
  • Outreach projects and mission trips (such as to El Salvador)

The recording of oral histories began earlier this year. We encourage as many people as possible to share stories with the parish! If you have not received a request for a one-on-one interview with a member of Bob Davis’s History team and would like to participate, notify Bob.
